Big news!
My new book, The Four Foundations of Golf, is now available on Amazon ➡

My New Book Is Out!

I have some exciting news. After three years of writing and research, my book is finally out on Amazon!

It is called The Four Foundations of Golf: How to Build a Game That Lasts a Lifetime

I believe The Four Foundations is the most comprehensive and practical guide on how to improve your golf game and increase your enjoyment. The book draws on proven methods in various topics, including expectation management, strategy, practice methods, and sharpening your mental game. You will find plenty of new material never seen before on my website.

I am writing today to ask for your help. For over seven years, I have shared free articles on Practical Golf. And now, I need your help to make this book a success.

If you are interested in supporting me, here are three ways you can help:

1) Buy the book: The most impactful thing you can do right now is order the book on Amazon. If you are located outside of the United States, just search for it in your local Amazon market. If you like what I’ve been doing on Practical Golf, you will find this book far more comprehensive and organized than anything I have ever done.

2) Tell your friends: If you have friends who are golfers, please let them know about the book! I wrote it so that a player of any level can learn actionable ways to lower their scores. Since I am self-publishing, I am relying on the golf community to spread the word.

3) Write a Review: If you read the book, I would greatly appreciate you writing a review on Amazon when you are finished. Your feedback will help others discover The Four Foundations and see if it is appropriate for them.

Initial Praise for The Four Foundations

I asked a few top minds in the game improvement world to read an early version of the book.

Here’s what they said…

“If your goal is to shoot lower scores, you should read this wonderful book by Jon Sherman! His advice is practical, impactful, and presented with clearly reasoned, objective analysis. Highly recommended for every golfer who’s serious about improving their game.”
– Mark Broadie, author of Every Shot Counts

“I have been friends with Jon for years and have watched him evolve into one of the top voices in game improvement. The Four Foundations is a wonderful culmination of his philosophy. I am confident a golfer of any level can pick up this book and take their game to the next level with just a few of the many lessons within.”
– Scott Fawcett, founder of DECADE

“Jon offers a genuinely unique perspective as a player-coach. His methods are tried and tested – and proven to help golfers worldwide get better without having to stand on a range all day, tinkering with their swing. The Four Foundations of Golf is an excellent addition to any golf library, explaining a wide range of improvement methods in great depth without being confusing. You’ll get so much out of this book, you’d be a fool not to get it!”
– Adam Young, author of The Practice Manual

“Jon does an amazing job at quantifying the specific areas of your game that you need to improve if you want to start scoring better. This isn’t just some random book filled with fluff. It’s about understanding how to be more efficient with your time to get the most out of your game on various topics. He leaves no stone unturned. I highly recommend it!”
Shauheen Nakhjavani, PGA Tour Coach

I have heard from so many of you directly over the years and truly appreciate all of the support you have given me.

Thank you for the new book! Your timing is perfect. I am 64 and took up golf 18 months ago along with my 30-year old son. We have listened to you and Adam and the rest from the start.

My son got your book immediately, and I’m on your site now to find out where to get it. He’s already sent me the excerpts on expectations.

My instructor is helping me with big swing adjustment, and I was very discouraged, not knowing what my expectations should be. I just fear I don’t have enough years to learn! Thank you for encouragement, realistic expectations and great advice.

Jon, loving the paperback book so far. Only issue is the tremendous amount of misaligned text , page after page! Takes some of the joy out of reading it.
I would consider a different publisher.

I have just started reading your book. It is absolutely phenomenal! I can’t put it down. I’m a 72 year old and I have never read anything more helpful to enjoy golf. You are a genius. I can now play relaxed and have fun! Thank you so much!

Just finished Jon Sherman’s book and it easily readable and not overly technical. Best of all it was written by a golfer who knows there are many factors in playing good golf. It’s not a swing technique manual but a guide to the other relevant skills needed to enjoy golf, like how to practice. I guarantee you will learn something new and this is from a golfer of over 5,000 rounds of golf.

I purchased your book on Amazon and don’t regret it!

Your “center of the green dosen’t move ” is a great focus for approach shots and your numerous time tested tips have raised my game to another level. Thanks
My complaint is your praise of a golfer who’s drug use is never spoken about but is muted by the PGA. Hope his son is not impacted by the use if a needle.
    Regards this day

PS my comments won’t see the light of day but need to be stated.

The Four Foundations of Golf is a book that provides an in-depth look at the four fundamental elements of a great game: grip, stance, swing, and short game. Written by Golf Digest Top 100 Teacher, Jeff Ritter, it draws on the latest research and decades of teaching experience to explain how each component works in tandem with the others to produce a successful golf swing. With clear illustrations and step-by-step instructions, the book reveals how to properly execute the four fundamentals in order to improve all aspects of the game. It also provides drills to help players of all levels refine their technique, as well as tips for improving mental focus. The Four Foundations of Golf is an invaluable resource for any golfer looking to improve their skills and lower their scores.

I’m also looking for the pdf. I’m still listening, so I don’t want to go back and look for where Jon said it was on the site.

Look for the 3 dots in the upper right corner and click on it. Just below “Rate and Review” is “Accompanying PDF.” Click on that and you can download the PDF.
