GolfBuddy Voice 2 Review: The Best Value in Golf GPS Just Got Better

golfbuddy voice 2 review

You can’t be a good course manager if you don’t know your yardages. Since I started this site I have constantly rung the bell of smart strategy. Part of that is informing you with the correct information and then making smart decisions from there. This is exactly why I always encourage golfers to use GPS devices. In this article, I am going to review my favorite device out there that has gotten a nice upgrade – the GolfBuddy Voice 2.

I don’t believe you are going to find a more reliable device at a better price ($109). Let’s find out why…

You Turn it on, it Works…

In today’s world most tech devices are trying to tout a long list of features that blow away the competition. My criteria for golf GPS devices is pretty simple:

When you turn it on, it should work and not interfere with your round.

GolfBuddy Voice 2

That might sound pretty basic, but I can tell you from experience that many of the other GPS devices out there fail at this simple goal. They are either bloated with too many features, or the user experience is poor. The last thing you want to do during a round of golf is to be fidgeting with technology when you should be focusing on the next shot.

The beauty of the GolfBuddy Voice 2 is its simplicity, just like the predecessor.

It’s a tiny device that clips on to your belt or hat. When you turn it on it will automatically detect your course (they have over 38,000 in their database). It displays yardages to the front, center, and back of the green. This is crucial information that every golfer should know.

If you don’t want to look at the screen you can simply tap a button and a voice will tell you your yardages.

Some Nice Upgrades

While the original GolfBuddy Voice was an exceptional device, there are some upgrades to the newer unit that are worth noting.

The GolfBuddy Voice 2 features 14 hours of battery life, which is almost enough for 3 rounds. This is a nice enhancement so you don’t have to constantly charge it. Additionally, the newer model displays all yardages on the screen (in the original you had to hold the button down to see your distances to the front and back which was mildly annoying).

They now offer a dynamic green view which allows you to change your measuring point to multiple locations on the green.

It also gives you the ability to measure the distances of your shots (bragging rights for long drives).

GolfBuddy Voice 2 – The Best Value in Golf

There are plenty of other golf GPS devices on the market. However, I don’t think you are going to find a better overall value. If you are looking for a reliable product that will last you for years, and do not want to break the bank then this is for you. You can purchase the GolfBuddy Voice 2 on Amazon for $109 here.

I have two golf buddies! Neither of them is working! I bought the first one and it stopped working after a little over a year. I got the next one last October (2019). It stopped working two weeks ago! I have no idea where to go to have them fixed! I certainly wouldn’t buy a third one at this rate! What do you suggest I do?
