Colorado National Golf Club (Erie, CO)
Located just 20 minutes outside of Denver, Colorado National is the home club of the University of Colorado golf teams. This 232-acre championship par 72 course offers 5 sets of tees so every golfer can comfortably challenge themselves. Golfers are treated to mountain views while navigating the course’s elevation changes.
Riverdale Golf Courses (Brighton, CO)
The Riverdale Golf Courses offers two different 18 hole layouts: The Dunes and The Knolls. Pete and Perry Dye designed the Dunes course in a Scottish links style, with pot bunkers and mounds filling out this top-rated public track. The Knolls course is a traditional park-style layout that is crisscrossed by canals.
Players need to know their distances and be prepared to club up as this course features multiple elevated greens. This is easily one of the most challenging Denver golf courses.
Walnut Creek Golf Preserve (Westminster, CO)
Walnut Creek is more the just a golf course – it is also an Audubon Certified Signature Sanctuary. The property is sustainably managed to support and promote the local land and wildlife habitat. This means the course is home to more than 77 wildlife species as well as native plants. The golf course follows gently rolling hills and has an abundance of wild grasses, allowing the golfer to fully experience the natural landscape
Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course (Castle Rock, CO)
Designed by Jim Engh, Red Hawk Ridge opened in 1999 and provides a country club feel to the golfing public. An extensive practice facility allows golfers to warm up and hone their games as they prepare to take on the course. Green Valley Ranch Golf Club (Denver, CO)
Located between downtown Denver and the airport, Green Valley Ranch has options for golfers of every level. Beginners may try their hands at the nine hole par 3 course, while more experienced golfers can tee it up at the 18-hole championship course which plays host to Colorado Opens.
Common Ground Golf Club (Aurora, CO)
Common Ground Golf Club is truly unique, as it lies in the heart of the city. However, this Tom Doak course transports the golfer to a peaceful state. It presents comforts and challenges for all golfers, with strategically placed hazards throughout the course. Fossil Trace Golf Club (Golden, CO)
A short 15-minute drive west of Denver, Fossil Trace Golf Club is one of the top public courses in the area. This course has truly unique features: actual fossils in multiple locations. The clubhouse also offers an exhibit detailing the prehistoric highlights. The golf course challenges golfers as it educates them, with its rolling topography and undulating fairways. You can’t pass this course up, with all it has to offer.
