The Best New Orleans Golf Courses You Should Be Playing

New Orleans is one of America’s top destinations. With great food, music, and culture, it’s no surprise that it is a tourist hotspot. From Bourbon Street to Midtown, the choices are nearly endless. When you have had your fill of the amazing cuisine and might be ready to walk it off by playing nine or eighteen, these New Orleans golf courses are sure to help you swing away a few of those extra calories.

Audobon Park Golf Course: Executive Action

Oddly enough, one of the highest rated golf courses in town is actually an executive course! Just a stone’s throw away from the airport, this is great for getting some last minute golf action in. Open year-round, this small course doesn’t skimp on the quality. Some players have even said that if were bigger, it would definitely hold tournaments. If you are looking for good value and excellent conditions then this is the place for you.

Joseph M. Bartholomew: A Pleasant Walk

There will always be a debate about whether one should walk or cart a course. But with the rich cuisine of New Orleans, walking is always a good idea. This moderately challenging municipal course is ideal if you want a break from the hubbub of the city and are ready for a nice stroll in some beautiful scenery. Best of all, they are always running specials so you can get some seriously cheap rounds.

Lakewood Golf Club: If You Only Had Once Choice

Most cities have a variety of courses and selecting one can be difficult. If you only have time for one round, then usually you can be a little bit more flexible on price and Lakewood is definitely worth it! Although it is a semi-private course, it is very easy to get a tee time and the friendly staff and Big Easy atmosphere that pervades the course make it impossible to not have a good time. Find a couple local friends or their IDs and you can get a huge discount on the rate too.

TPC Louisiana: PGA Tour Quality

TPC courses are usually fantastic, but oftentimes they are paired with resorts or other packages so they are not exactly “public” courses. TPC Louisiana is an excellent course and has the benefit of being one of the most affordable courses on the tour. Built in just 2004, it has plenty of modern amenities and though it is open year-round, you can find great rates anytime.

Bayou Oaks City South Course: As Fresh as it Gets

This is one of the newest New Orleans golf courses, opening in 2017. Bayou Oaks has been receiving some very good reviews. Everything is well-maintained and nicely crafted to offer an overall excellent golf experience. The course is pretty tricky with some tough rough and tricky sand traps so be prepared for some challenges. For a city course, the rates are pretty high so don’t expect it to be packed anytime soon, but that might be a good thing for some people.
