New Jersey golf courses feature the variety of natural beauty that The Garden State has to offer. There are more than 350 golf courses in New Jersey to choose from.

You can view a complete listing of courses that you can play in our map directory below. Here are five New Jersey public golf courses that you should know about:

Atlantic City Country Club (Northfield, New Jersey)

Atlantic City Country Club is widely regarded as the best public golf course in New Jersey. It is one of the oldest courses in the entire country and it was here where the term birdie was first coined in 1903. This is one of the finest seaside courses you can play, and if you are headed towards Atlantic City then you need to book a tee time.

Ballyowen at Crystal Springs Resort (Hamburg, New Jersey)

The Crystal Springs resort boasts a great collection of six golf courses in Northern New Jersey. A popular destination for nearby New York City residents, it is home to the famed Ballyowen course. It is easily the most challenging and beautiful course at the resort and the entire state. If you are looking for a nice getaway the resort has great accommodations for a golf buddies trip or the entire family.

The Architects Golf Club (Lopatcong, New Jersey)

Architects is easily one of the most unique New Jersey golf courses open to the public. The owners wanted to design a course that paid homage to the great course architects in the history of golf. Each hole pays tribute to a different style of design and also serves as a history lesson. It also has a beautiful 16,000 square foot clubhouse that makes this one of the top golfing destinations in the state.

Hominy Hill (Colts Neck, New Jersey)

The New Jersey parks system has a wonderful collection of golf courses that local residents can play. One of the top courses is easily Hominy Hill. Robert Trent Jones designed this course, and it has been ranked the best public golf course in New Jersey several times. It measures over 7,000 yards from the back tees and has hosted several prestigious tournaments. This is a great opportunity to play a classic course for reasonable greens fees.

Shore Gate Golf Club (Ocean View, New Jersey)

If you are headed down to the Jersey shore then you need to check out Shore Gate Golf Club. Located between Atlantic City and Cape May, this course has received national recognition since it first opened in 2002. This course is always in pristine shape and is a great destination to consider if you are headed towards the beach.
